My post with copper waste produced some very interesting responses and made some very enlightening reading,

So, as a follow on, as stated asked with some trepidation (not wanting an argument, just an insight).....

Although, plumbing materials have come on a long way and have certainly made life easier for plumbers has the technological side moved on.....

eg. Unvented cylinders, when was the first one the older plumbers fitted, wireless room stats etc.

unvented is probably in the last 15 years and wireless stats in the last 3 im sure both have been around longer but im talking common usage

Not really answering your question, nor am I trying to dodge the question

I believe the the first UK type domestic unvented hot water cylinders were fitted In a new housing estate at Bracknell Berks, in about 1971, I have never fitted any of those, but I have fitted a fair few Continental type domestic hot water cylinders whilst in France

Same for wireless t'stats, but will it not interfere with a wireless computer to modem etc link

time to light the torches and grab the pitch forks me thinks

You going to start a revolution then, if so can I come and join you??

Hi
Just worked through the BPEC unvented folder and at the start it says Englishman Thomas Hawksley devised a highly efficient method of DHW supply.Mainly inplace in the industrial world with the exception of the UK.It was not until the legislation of 1985 Building Regs and 1986 Model Water Byelaws permitted the installation of unvented hot water in the UK

not had any problems with wireless stats think they work on a differnt frequency to wireless internet
in the seventies we did some work on a town house in the west end and collapsed the cylinder turned out westminster council wouldnt allow tank housings on the roof so the copper cylinder was actually sealed and a peasure vessel fitted in the garage which we didnt know about we managed to pop the cylinder more or less back in shape when we refilled and the jacket hid the creases
