systems
A system is a group of interacting or interrelated elements that act according to a set of rules to form a unified whole. A system, surrounded and influenced by its environment, is described by its boundaries, structure and purpose and expressed in its functioning. Systems are the subjects of study of systems theory and other systems sciences.
I have a single pipe system retrofitted to a 1930's house. It is powered by a condensing gas boiler.
As expected, the radiators get cooler the further they are from the boiler.
It occurred to me that if I fitted a "crossover switch" between the punp and the radiators I could send the water...
Can anyone advise if a Watchman Sonic oil tank monitor can fit the hole used for an old Sensor Systems Niveau Watchman? I want to replace the old hardware and the new Watchman Sonic needs a 32mm hole. Obviously I'd rather not have to drill a new hole. I don't have access to the tank at the...
I'm about to get a backfed water system installed from a pipe in the utility room, as the mains pipe under my downstairs bathroom has collapsed and it's the easiest way to fix the leak. The plumber is confident this is a good idea, but I can't find any info about it online. What are the pros and...
Hello,
I live in Sweden and find it interesting that it seems to be more common to clean heating systems with cleaners. Not many people in Sweden do that. I have never done and our system is about 50 years old. Everything now works after flushing the heat pump heat exchanger and installing the...
I would love some phrases or sentences from an expert to describe central heating boiler configurations with just feedback from TRVs (no room stat in the design).
If there are some configurations, manufacturers or combinations which work better for TRV-only it would be great to hear those...
Hi
Can anyone recommend a decent locksheild valve to pair with the Danfoss RA-G TRV? The RA-g is high flow but I can find a matching locksheild to suit on their site.
Cheers
Hi Guys! Can you recommend any good plumbing books? But not the typical plumbing book like changing washers on taps and repairing syphons. Something a bit more advanced.More like central heating installation and wiring, installation in anything in plumbing in general.Fault finding too.š. I am...
Hello everybody
First post here.
I'm planning a new plumbing system for my small house.
I can find lots of general guidance, but what I was wondering about was the perhaps lesser known fancy or clever design elements and components.
I guess, what would an experienced plumber's home system...

I have recently moved house and trying to understand how my heating systems work, and this is because it seems to be inconsistent. Firstly to explain my setup, I have a normal heating system with a tank in the loft and cylinder in the airing cupboard and Honeywell wall stat. My house also has an...
As per the title. What do you think of using Speedfit in part of the cental heating system?
In particular a 15mm x 300mm flexi pipe. Bent at 90 degrees. See link.
Not sure what I am dealing with yet but I suspect a leaky Yorkshire elbow below the floorboards.
Rather than remove it, clean it...
Some vented heating systems seem to sludge up, and yet other remain remain remarkably clean after many years service.
Why?
Corrosion is caused by oxygen. Eliminating leaks and inhibitor helps, but the F&E tank is open to the air, so oxygen can freely get in there. Is it possible to design a...
Hello
Can the Intergas Xclusive 24 boiler be used on an Open Vented system - I've been guided to the fact that the ''X'' and Echo RF ranges can only be used on a pressurized/closed system
Coming from Canada, and having lived in Europe for some years, I was a bit surprised that people still install vented heating systems in the UK. As a kid I lived in a 1912 house with original cast iron boiler and radiators, and I remember the expansion tank with sight glass, it was in my room...
A repost hopefully this works this time
6.2m radiators sold...just blow the attachment up
It shows just how small the renewable market really is
centralheatking
I recently power flushed with an acidic solution on a particularly dirty system. I drained and refilled and added the neutraliser crystals and test the ph. It was a bit disturbing to find it was still about 5 ph. So I repeated to get it down to about 7.5.
I just wondered what solutions/methods...
Sorry if I come at this form the wrong direction. I'd like to move my vented-cylinder into the loft. I run two shower-pumps too. I realise a sealed-cylinder is the easy route. Sadly I've not got much mains pressure. Combination boilers don't really have the grunt for fire-hose showers.
I'm...
Hi,
Does anyone out there have any knowledge or experience of the Powder Flushing process?
I am tempted to get them round to unblock my domestic open vented system. But at Ā£1000 for ten rads I want to get a second opinion.
Can anyone vouch for them?
Do you know anyone thatās used them?
Iāve...
