Is anyone else having any problems with the scenarios, i just wanna chuck it out of the bloody window. If anyone has any walk throughs, it would be appreciated as i can fix the problem no worries but not complete it exactly as the program wants & it driving me nuts!

hi mate i dont know how to do soundness test in senario 3
please help me
akh

hi mate, the scenarios are a pain,,,scenario 1 their are nineteen thing to check basically everything to do with the cold water system, count them as you go along isolators, taps, toilet etc,etc....
scenario 2 hot water check, the immersion heater has been left on and its too high, turn it down to 60 degrees again check everything to do with the hot water,
scenariol 3 not done that yet,got as far as a soundness test and failed so got bored with it.....good luck

hi got this disk of a mate for fun.
check every thing that is wet plumbing, it will tell you if not relevant.
and dont forget to leave the house as you found it water / heat on doors shut etc.

Good day one and all, I am also struggling with the soundness testing!! do you have to check each piece of pipework which is adjoined to the isolation/service valves?! I do know after many times of being told that you must turn the boiler OFF before you play with the gate valve. Will give it another attempt when kids are tucked up in bed!
Regards James

I am also struggling with the soundness test in sanario 3, if anyone has any advice it will be very much appreciated

are you referring to a gas tightness test ?

no the soundness test for hot and cold water systems. (scenario 3 on the Trade 4 trade skills virtual reality cd). Ive read the guide in my book but its not the same in the VR house, you cant just go to your toolbox and grab a tool. the last problem i had to solve was two leaking taps but it wouldnt let me change the tap washers i had to replace the taps with new ones, shurely i should have had both options.

Did anybody finish the senario 2. I have problem with the hot water system check, rest is done, it is 18 points to inspect. Somebody can tell my whom from kitchen&cupboard has to by inspect. help please its getting me mad

I have not heard of these scenarios are they part of an on line plumbing course ? Where do you get the Cd's ?

They seem okay as scenarios to me.

They seem to be picking up on any underlying knowledge required to answer them.

In real life of course it often doesn't work like that.

A Plumber usually has to think on the job, not go home and look in a book.

Its great if you can of course and sometimes you get the opportunity to do so.

Working for small repair companies however, where you don't even know what your next customer will want, it works differently.
If your an employee, your boss will expect you to be able to do what he is paying you for and that means any job in Plumbing.
That means from ships plumbing to oil refinery to tap washers.

You would need a library to cover it all and have the time to read it.

Your head would be so full of information you could probably be so distracted from your often dangerous surroundings you could trip, and hurt yourself.

The key is to do your planning first and then the job, so you don't mix work with learning.

But how do you do that in a small firm when you don't know what sort of job you will be doing in the next half hour let alone day?

Learn as much as you can about how things should work, then you will know why they don't.

And don't be afraid to ask questions or look in kids books for answers.
Have a read of a Physics book, go to one of the junior school websites and learn the basics from the start.

And don't think your too old or sophisticated to do that.

You don't of course have to go down to the sub atomic particle level of matter to understand what your doing, although that helps, but just far enough so that you do understand.

Also what you do sometimes find is that the same principles of Plumbing apply equally to an oil refinery as they do to your house only the pipes are usually bigger.

Wait till you get piece of 24" Spun cast iron to play with. You can get bigger of course, but that is usually the heavy mobs job. :)

You will spend all day trying to work out how to move it, let alone do anything else with it. And no a nice man with a crane isn't always there.

You have to ask "How deep is the hole, its going in?" "Is the hole properly shored up!"

Loads of questions about none Plumbing things that are all part of Plumbing.

Its all a good laugh. And don't forget to relax and have fun at some point. :) :)

scenario 2 the immersion has been left on,the thermostat on the immersion is set to high, turn it down to 60 degrees, check everything to do with hot water,
ps i have the completion code should you need it, hope this helps

hello can you tell me please

hi mate i dont know how to do soundness test in senario 3
please help me

Im having the same problem now and its getting bloody annoying.

I can do everything in this scenario apart from the Cold and Hot Water Soundness testing. What am I doing wrong

Ive checked absolutely everything (twice!) and Ive even left it for 15 minutes in case but still No!!

It would be nice to get more details from the results rather than 'you did not complete a soundness check on the hot water/cold water' At least give us a clue what we are missing

Can anyone help before I start using the CD as a lethal weapon by throwing it at something?

Thanks

Basically, the same as the above. How do i do a full hot water check ?
I've done everything else for scenario 2

can anyone tell me where i can get theses cd's ...nothing like this in ireland and i would love to suss it out for the craic !!!

So would i just incase i have forgotten anything.

Just had a read through some of this............walkthroughs?????????? what is that all about. This plumbing game is far removed from call of duty or what ever other game you get walkthroughs for. Suss it out for yourself.

hi all
im also having probs on the soundness testing if any one susses iit please let me know and i willl also

cheers chris

Read your books and follow it.
Fk me it is hardly rocket science. A wean with a biscuit rse could do that.

any chance of getting one of these CDs, just out of intrest;has anybody got one spare?

the books for these scenarios i.e scenario 3 (that i am stuck on) dont tell you how to perform the task, just regulation and very basic info. Really poor as ive never done this work before, so what it tells you is to cap off vents; then tells you about what water pressure should be. Sod all else really nothing about where to attach pressure gauge or how to go about even starting the job. Soundness test on hot and cold water systems. Please can anyone help?

what does that tell you about what your spending you hard earnt cash on???????????????
is it worth it???????

Finally completed scenario 3. soundness test. thanx 4 the help. Really have to search with the mouse and the graphics movement isn't good so the option wasn't appearing to connect pressure kit. thanx anyway

hi m8 senario 1 a col;d water system check i done every thing on it and still cant how 2 find out how 2 doing it it really got my head messed up

it should only be there to support learning not replace i. my fear is steve that people think this is enough

it's just that the importance that people put on these scenarios. it's not like this in the real world at all. the stopcocks are not all in the same place for instance. even in the same row of houses the plumbing will most probably be different having been worked on over the years.

stop cocks only work for the first 12months after installation. then they are there just to confuse you or to be a divide between bleech and shoe polish in the sink cupboard;)

Hi This is what you need to do to complete S1.

1) Go to Loft, remove lid from cold water tank, isolate water supply, switch to bathroom turn on hot water tap, switch back to loft replace float. Inspect 4 items in the loft. Replace lid(s) back on tanks.
2) Switch to Bathroom turn off hot water tap. Inspect 6 items.
3) Switch to Cloakroom Inspect 4 items.
4) Switch to Kitchen Inspect 5 items here, Before inspecting all 5 items you need to open the draincock, freeze the pipe under the main stopcock get the main stopcock replaced, close the draincock, unfreeze the pipe and thats scenario 1 done.

Remember in order to replace the main stopcock the issue in the loft needs to be resolved first.

If you need further help with scenario 1 or any other scenario let me know.

Hey all

Same here im stuck on scenario 3 on the soundness check...judging by the dates on the last posts to this thread you guys should be qualified by now?? how did you get on?? Ive mamnaged to do everything correct apart frm attempting a cold and hot water soundness check... as for scenario 2 you literally need to click on everything to do with both the hot and cold water system and turn all isolation valves off and back on again also turn off the immersion heater as its a waste of energy (only needs be on for baths) and adjust the temp on the thermopstat which is erroneously set to 90oc back to the coprrect temp of 60 oc ..all hot taps must be 60oc and cold taps i think are 20oc...

and help is appreciated with the soundness checks.. train for Trade skills plumbers course material

how did you do soundness test i have done it .it means pressure test.put your arrow on the washing machine pipes and look at what it says

Turn the water on. If it is running through the ceiling the client will be onto claims direct.

soundness testing is in jtl book also

pretty easy really, unless you have a leak and as tamz says, get insurered lol

hi i have done everything on scenario 1 accept a complete cold water system check i cant seem to find them all

Finally completed scenario 3. soundness test. thanx 4 the help. Really have to search with the mouse and the graphics movement isn't good so the option wasn't appearing to connect pressure kit. thanx anyway

Hello, this is music to my ears!!! Could you possibly enlighten me as to how you did this. If you can remember!!!

Many thanks

Jason

Just bumping this to bring all contributors to the attention of all the threads we have on our forums about Train 4 Trade Skills.

There have been A LOT of people who feel they have been missold courses by Train 4 Trade Skills. Many taking legal action.

I have contacted the tutor team and sent instructions on how to complete scenario 2 and it's still telling hot water check not completed! this is getting to me fed up with it, as I have a general idea of plumbing and know if this was a job a full check would have completed already this is beginning to feel like a joke
