Hello y'all,
I came here looking for info on Ideal boilers which I'd been warned off, but it seems that the Logic model is OK. I'm not sure whether Warmfront offer the Logic or the Logic+, and what the difference is yet, but possibly I'll get some expert advice from you guys on the sharp end? ;).
Thanks in anticipation. Ian Colley in sunny Stockport.

Ideal have had a terrible reputation with their boilers (quite rightly so) of the past few years but there are some good reports of this one from guys who have fitted them, mainly on contract stuff.
They started coming out around last September and I personally would not fit one just yet until we see how things go for a while. Last thing i need is call backs to new boilers. We,ll see.
The Logic + has a front cover flap and a more detailed display. Also comes with a 5 year guarantee instead of 2 on the Logic. Costs about £50 more.

You get what they give you unless you kick up a fuss....and then you will have to pay extra for a W.B or Vaillant ( upto £700.00)

Don’t except the low efficiency light bulbs they try to flog you because that will come out your grant and the loft installation will be charged as well.

Most of the pipe work will be run surface, and heaven forbid if you have to call them back to re do anything..

Saying that you might be one of the lucky ones.

Lovely place
That had me thinking for a while......Stockport of course!

Thanks to Tamz and Spudhater for your imput, just got round to figuring out how to read the replies...... The £50.00 extra for the 3 years added guarantee period seems to be be a good option depending on what it covers.
As I'm getting a free boiler replacement due to my advanced age, I may be wrong in even questioning the make and model, but as the working taxpayer is footing the bill, it seems only fair that they [and I], get the best deal, and after all following 15 years of breakdowns from the Ferroli it would be nice just to have some peace of mind.
Reading the MANY comments online from both engineers and end users regarding Warmfront, it looks to be a good government initiative which has been taken over by a whole crowd of bureaucrats who are making a pig's ear of things as usual, and [some] installers who are making hay while the sun shines, which after the recent regime change may not be a long harvest!
[I'm still trying to discover where EAGA fits into the equation].
I may be completely wrong....but that's how it looks, thanks for taking the time and trouble to advise me,
Regards, Ian Colley.

Being of that age myself and retired, we recently had Warmfront EAGA install an Ideal Logic in ours plus rads.

Not a bad job. Bit rough here and there, but seems okay.

Don't know how good the boiler is, as we have not had it that long. You get 2 years free all in maintenance off EAGA and then they offered £140 a year all in after the 2 years.

Warmfront is the name of the grant. EAGA is a separate company that installs for them as far as I can make out.

Incidentally the guys who did ours where local although he worked for EAGA who are in Newcastle.

Warmfront fitted a WB greenstar for my mother, they did try and tell me they could only fit Ideal boilers, untill they saw my van on the drive :D, they also tryed it with my mothers friend next door untill i stuck my head in, they make more profit on the job if they fit Ideal boilers thats why they push them.

Iguana are owned by Eaga and install about a third of the grants awarded the rest go out to approved installers..:(

Nice little "closed shop" they are as slippery as there name suggest..

I wonder with the Gov cutting back if the grant money will be available next year, be nice see them try a compete with us mortals.

if warmfront worked in the same way as the boiler scrappage schemme then wed all be on a level playing field and i expect the quality of installs would improve and more importantly the independants would benefit a bit
