Morning! Woke up to the same problem of mains water coming out of all the mixer taps when they were turned to hot as well as when they were turned to cold.

Got up and decided to do battle with the shower unit mystery. Saw that the hot/cold control on both showers was set to the hottish temperature from the last time they were used. Wondered what would happen if I turned the control to cold only.

Bingo! All the mixer taps in the house now only work when they are turned to cold. No more mains water coming out of them when turned round to hot.

So folks, does this mean (a) the thermostatic cartridges in both showers are OK or (b) they are bust and need replacing?

Thanks for any offers of (a)!

so as in my other post, thought you would wake up to the same problem, still need to isolate the hot feed as the mixer taps can backflow, ignore the shower

Sorry. Forgot to add that the plumber totally disconnected the hot tank from the rest of the house yesterday. Pipes cut off the lot. :)

An update. We contacted Hansgrohe's technical support team who, I must say, get a gold star for effort. The non return valves in the shower's ibox unit had got stuck open by a piece of swarf and so, because they couldn't shut the back flow off, were forming a bridge between the empty hot pipes and the full mains ones.

Cleaned out the nasties and the system is back to normal.

Thank you once again Hansgrohe. You are a star.
