Turned A (capital: Ɐ, lowercase: ɐ, math symbol ∀) is a letter and symbol based upon the letter A.
Lowercase ɐ (in two story form) is used in the International Phonetic Alphabet to identify the near-open central vowel. This is not to be confused with the turned alpha or turned script a, ɒ, which is used in the IPA for the open back rounded vowel.
It was used in the 18th century by Edward Lhuyd and William Pryce as a phonetic character for the Cornish language. In their books, both Ɐ and ɐ have been used. It was used in the 19th century by Charles Sanders Peirce as a logical symbol for 'un-American' ("unamerican").The logical symbol ∀, has the same shape as a sans-serif capital turned A. It is used to represent universal quantification in predicate logic, where it is typically read as "for all". It was first used in this way by Gerhard Gentzen in 1935, by analogy with Giuseppe Peano's turned E notation for existential quantification and the later use of Peano's notation by Bertrand Russell. In traffic engineering it is used to represent flow, the number of units (vehicles) passing a point in a unit of time. It may also be used in unit rates.
According to the principle of acrophony, the letter A originated from the Proto-Sinatic alphabet as a symbol representing the head of an ox or cow, its orientation and original meaning having been lost over time. The turned A symbol restores the letter to a more easily recognizable logographic representation of an ox's head.U+1D44 ᵄ MODIFIER LETTER SMALL TURNED A is used in the Uralic Phonetic Alphabet.
I have a problem with noise and vibrations from my shower when i first turn it on.
The problem lasts for about 30 seconds after the shower is switched on before it stops.
There is a sink nearby, sometimes if we switch that on slowly before turning on the shower then the shower doesn't make a...
Bad leak inside bathroom walls at floor for three days. A gallon every hour. Shut off water for a few hours and leak stopped. Turned water back on and leak has not come back. What happened?
I'm a DIYer and have a problematic toilet setup to fix:
The waste pipe was installed too high for waste to flow out from a standard toilet spigot, so I want to install a wall-hung toilet on a frame to get some extra height.
To put it where I want it though, I'll need to rotate the bottom...
Hi all, I have an issue with our shower's hot water. The shower is operated using two separate taps for cold and hot water. When the hot water tap is turned on, no water at all comes from the shower head - not even a drizzle. However, when the cold water is turned on it flows freely. The hot...

Hi all,
Hope you’re all doing well.
I had a new bathroom installed recently which involved new piping, and also capping off some redundant pipes. Since then, my boiler (pretty new Vaillant combi) turns on when I turn the cold water on. I’ve done some reading and it seems like the problem is...
Hi all, thank you so much in advance for any help. I’m always really grateful for the advice and support from experts when I have been on here a few years ago.
There’s a dripping coming from my bathroom and I can hear it coming from behind the toilet and I’m worried it’s causing a buildup which...
Hey everyone,
I'll keep it short.
Had our old system boiler replaced with a new Ideal system boiler set up.
Then the problems began.
First issue was the pump went faulty, so the pump was replaced.
This then led to a new issue coming up where the central heating would work, but not the hot...

I have a growing damp patch on my ceiling, I initially assumed it must be from the empty flat above (and therefore cannot gain access), and have since used emergency cut off for that flat.
I'm now wondering if it could a problem in my own flat, so cut a hole in the damp patch to investigate -...
Hi I have a problem with my flexible pipes on my sink. They need replacing but we are going on holiday so won't be able to get this done till we get back. Is it safe to leave isolation valve turned off on flexible pipe connected taps for a longer period as it will be 2 weeks? Will it cause any...

Hello! I have recently gotten my sink installed with the Hyco Handyflow Undersink. It works great and makes the water go hot. However when I turn it on to heat the water, it causes the tap to slowly drip. When i turn this off, it seems to stop dripping.
Would there be any indication what the...
Our meter is in the pathway approx 50 metres from a two and a half year old house. Water bill has risen sharply in last 6 months. (Almost doubled).

Hi, recently moved into my first house and am fairly new to DIY.
I've been experiencing issues with banging and creaking central heating pipes since I moved in. I've now lagged and secured piping wherever I can access it which has fixed the issue to some degree however fitted wardrobes are...
Hi all, I'm looking for a bit advice please, I hope that's ok.
I rent a flat in a large converted house, due to the size it has a continuously recirculating heating system. Due to some issues with the system, the recirculation pump/valves to the pump have had to be temporarily shut off pending...
Hi. Our Worcester 30cdi makes a very loud rumbling noise after the hot tap is turned off. It seems to be worse if the hot tap is only run for a short time. The noise is getting worse since this video was done. Any advice gratefully received.
Hi everyone.
I have had my Central heating on for a while but I switched it off last night.
When I got up this morning there was a patch of water under the boiler and the pressure had dropped but not by much.
I have established it is dripping from the pipe with a red tap marked CH flow.
Any...
We just bought a big house and the radiators are controlled centrally, as you'd expect, but it doesn't appear that the knobs adjust the heat output so we can't heat the house piecemeal.
We intend on re-plumbing the house but this is a huge problem in the interim.
Thanks.
Sorry a slight variation on other posts!
