Hi all
Got to give a local builder a price tomorrow and as all my work is usually domestic I would like a guide please. Price is for first house of five so I need to be fairly accurate

Job -
Ground floor copper from mains/combi boiler through house to downstairs toilet then upstairs - 4 rads + 1 towel warmer
Builder using metal web joists so all pipework upstairs will be speedfit in floor void 1 ensuite with shower + 1 family bathroom (bath & separate shower) 5 x rads 1 x towel warmer
2 soil pipes to be run from ground floor to roof vent

How long would you allow to plumb everything ? What would you quote total price (materials supplied by builder) ? What would you quote if builder chooses option of paying day rate ?

Thanks :)

Split it up into bite sized pieces. Day rate would depend on where you are.

If I were the builder and you were telling me you were going to use Speedfit I would choose somebody else to do the work.

I think most builders specify speedfit or one of the other pushfit systems these days, especially with those joists. Copper would be a nightmare to use, 10,000,000 couplings! Speedfit is fine as long as you follow the pressure testing guidelines

before you qoute any thing just make sure that your clear on every thing as builders are brilliant at not paying if extra`s are required

No I would use PolyPlumb or similar. Much more robust.

make sure you add 10% on final price you work, either to cover yourself, for unforeseen problems, also builder will try to haggle you down

get an exact written spec off the builder, as to whats required. take it home. as said above split it into bite size chunks, work it out from there.
add in price of several return visits. work out how much you need the work and factor in likelyhood of more work or non payment.

have fun
