Hello everyone. After a disastrous year last year getting hit with redundacy I decided I would get training in plumbing to better my chances of finding a job and keeping it. I Booked myself on BTSC's plumbing course, the full lot including gas. I am now finished my C&G certificates I have my unvented and Water regs cards, about to do my Part P too, and am now looking for work with a company so I can get my NVQ's and build a portfolio for my ACS gas course (I need 20 installs; boilers, fires, cookers, etc).
I have been out on the tools with one guy and it went really well (got a boiler install at least :)) but as yet haven't secured a full-time place with him.
I was wondering if you good people have any tips for someone in my position (constructive preferably).

Or indeed if you are on the lookout for a new guy?! :D

Any help at all will be greatly recieved.

Lee
I'm 30, with a few tools and my own car. I live in NE London, case ur interested.

Hi leekeyjug and welcome to UKPlumbersForums.co.uk!

no real experience and completed a short course in plumbing if I read you right. Chances of a firm taking you on limited to zero. Your only choice is to work for yourself, take on thejobs you can cope with and get some experience (several years worth) then undertake the gas side, its no good putting in boilers if you can get the tickets if you havent got a good grounding in the basics. by then you should have come across enough other engineers to bully one into helping you with a portfollio and giving a chance of taking your gas tickets.
