Sorry about oversized picture still trying to get used to operation
Called out the other day, no hot water due to faulty immersion heater
went to turn gate valve off to stop water and this is what happened, iron bush fitted to connect cylinder to cold feed, a bit of electrolysis and away you go, luckily I just managed to turn isolation valve off and I have a big thumb, off came my shoe, pulled sock off and wedged in cylinder end with the held of my van key
I just looooove plumbing :D ;)

i was in a church about 4 years ago, drain valve on cylinder snapped on me, just like the pic. after sitting for half an hour with my finger in the hole, realised nobody was coming to help. let go for 20 seconds, ran for the mobile, came back stuck me finger back in the hole and rung my boss. me sat with me finger in cylinder in blackpool, rang my boss, turns out he was in wigan his comment "what do you want me to do, drive over and pass you a spanner" before putting the phone down on me.
i sat there for another ten minutes with water slightly passing thru me finger, before i realised i was buggered. let go. run to van. get cloths and buckets and make the best of a bad situation.
vicar returned, house was clean and dry, just asked what the dehumidifier was for?

Hi. As a plumber you would not be trying hard enough is similar had not happen to you. And the customer still thinks you are trying to get more out of the job. Good Luck (good job it was a immersion heater problem hot water really hurts and takes wall paper off a treat.)

This is why I spend time (probably too much) reading a lot of these threads, I would not have considered using my sock to plug the whole. I would have been a little lost, probably waited for the search party and grabbed my snorkel.

My phone is never on me and 95% of the time its out of arms reach, I will now remedy this.

I did have a chuckle though, although I would not have had a chuckle if it'd been me. Crying into a pot of flux would have been more like it:eek:

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
