Welcome to the forums, TheBoy!!

Hope you pass and good luck!!!

Never found any BPEC test to contain any kind of challenge yet. I wouldn't worry about it.

seems alot of people like to spell college as collage lol

anyhoooooo welcome to the forums dont worry about test it will be a doddle

seriously, make sure you know how to tell the time on an analogue watch, there are a couple of questions that show a clock face and ask what time it is in 90 minutes etc, (if it is the basic trade test for getting into apprenticeship) also a couple on a set of cogs, you have to follow the arrows and say what way the last cog turns

Do you have to take some Playdo with you and a day's supply of nappies?

Honestly, what's the world coming to? Who on earth thinks these questions are REALLY necessary?

Just cheapens the construction world.

to be fair they are/were based on giving to 16 year olds just out of school, but i take your point

And, for my part and to make myself clear, I was NOT having a go at you at all - only the people who think it's necessary to have these questions.

no offence taken, i quoted from the snipef test as best i can remember it from my time working in the college, it was in fact given to the pre-apps (these boys and girls came in for a 12 week course to try different trades to see what they liked/were good at, as best you can tell after a short go at 3 or 4 trades) before specialising in whatever, the test was given by the snipef rep to ensure they at least had some basics, i assume if they cant tell the time or what way the cogs go they have to be painters or plasterers:wink_smile:

Is this why boys can draw circles better than girls? All those years of practising when younger ... and not so younger in some cases ...

only the people who think it's necessary to have these questions.

Unbelievably, 49% of children today learn to tell the time by using their mobile phone. Analogue clock faces are something of a mystery to many now.

And yes, we really are churning out children this uneducated...

maybe just because analogue clock faces are becoming a thing of the past ? I wouldn't be bothered that much about them not being able to read an analogue clock

hi guys i am having a bpec pre apprenticeship test this friday and i am worrying that i am practising the wrong test is it really that simple?

Kids today have loads of trouble communicating in any other way than mobile phone text. There understanding of the world seems very limited. At least the simple tests are showing somebody understands that and giving the kids a chance. The problem is the normal education system needs looking at properly so these simple questions do not need to be asked. How bad is it? I once received a letter off a solicitor that was virtually unreadable the grammar and spelling was so bad. Now if a solicitor cannot write a letter what about the kids?

Education is that bad that you can do a gcse in graffiti !! Seriously my friends sister was going to do it but her parents didn't let her. How silly is that!

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
