Hello,
I have an old Tritan Thames concentric mixer shower I am trying to replace the thermostatic cartridge.

Due to the faulty part being old it appears seized within the housing. Any ideas how I can remove it from the brass ring to put the new one in.

I have tried various things but nothing has worked so far.

Thanks

Vice and some heat via a blow torch

Shaun- thanks for response, I’ve just tried that and it didn’t work. I think it’s because there is nothing for the mole grips to turn on as the bit that needs to come out is circle shaped.

Need a pair of grips / pump pliers guess you could try putting the brass in the vice (not the ring)and turn the body ?

Looking at it , would it not be better to change whole valve, easier too

I'm guessing they don't sell the brass bit / it's not supposed to come out with the cartridge

Use a pair of stilsons, and if that doesn't work use a bigger pair. I start at 12's and so far only ever got up to 36" before stuff gives in! I have access to 60" stilsons if necessary but need four string men to lift them.

Shaun- tried it for quite a while with water pump pliers and mole grips and blow torching both sides. I think because it’s so old it doesn’t want to move.

Need to be hotter then

I'd not get too physical with it personally. Instead I'd soak it hot/warm descaler for a few days. The issue is its bonded together by the limescale so breaking down those bonds which will as strong as the metal is vital.

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks
