I need to run a new water mains in to an extension area of an existing property. I plan to run the mains poipe externally above damp course level, then in through the wall. The pipe will be insulated.

Can anyone advise that this meets current standards as water mains usually come up through the flooring?

Ring your water service provider and see what they say...

It dont.

i think you mean a supply pipe the mains is outside of yer property and belongs to the water undertaker.

If you run the pipe outside of yer house then you need to lay it 750mm - 1350 under ground and must be insulated and sleeved at both ends, and make sure you use the right back flow prevention. even better just phone a plumber eh.
