is there any reason why on the boiler auto air vent the little black screw cap is missing and a clear plastic tube attached running out at the side of the boiler.

the auto air valve is leaking from where the little black cap goes so i cant see any reason why i dont get a spare cap and screw it on.

cos the aav is leaking and the pipe is draining away the leaking fluid, so replace the aav and alls well

These boilers have a short discharge tube attached as standard. The cap should be removed.
If there is a visible discharge replace the AAV and re-fit the tube.

can any aav be fitted or does it have to be halstead

If it fits it will usually do the job.

the little tube is a very god idea,went to a Worcester the other day that had wet its pcb from a failed aav
