Can anybody tell me if this boiler heats the water from the mains as well as the hot water tank or if it only heats the water in the tank...

Cheers dudes...

It is not a combi that heats water up directly,it is designed to be put on a system with a cylinder :)

You will need a cold water storage tank to supply open vented cylinder, unless you went for a unvented cylinder, you can do away with the small header tank for the heating as that side of the system will be pressurised

Gotcha.

On a similar note, but perhaps for another forum, my power shower drains my hot water cylinder uber quick. Does this mean I need a bigger cylinder or is this a sign of another problem....

ive got a ideal isar combi boiler and hv been recomended to fit a potterton boiler, does that mean i will need a water tank?

not always alison, baxi/potterton make a boiler for every application,if you need a pressurised boiler then the potterton performa system or combi is a wise choice

No Allison, the boiler I recommended is a combi( no need for a header tank )
