does any one know any good web sites wer u can get free manufacturers instructions. every site i go to wants an annual subscrition. I,m at the end of my nvqiii gas fitting course and i want to become familiar with what needs doing with the different boilers such as commisioning and fault finding.

when you get your gassafe registration through and are let loose in the world, you will find all boiler manufacturers instructions have both commisioning and fault finding guides in them, you will also be able to ring them up and they can give you the information you need. and on the occasion you get to a boiler and theres no mi's on site, they are all downloadable from manufacturers website.
good luck and enjoy your challenge !!

or, you can get a disc from ebay for about £7. contains most m.i.

Hey Migo my old mate!

I got shot down for saying that in other mails :) :) I was told I was telling people things they should not know.

Funny old world isn't it? :) :)

Try this for size

Boiler Manuals - Gas Boiler Manuals - Oil Boiler Manuals Installation & Servicing Manuals

It costs £25 for the year, but IMHO I think it is worth 4 times this!!
Not only is it for boilers, but fires, cookers, water heaters etc.
All mauals are downloadable and printable.Plus they are always updating manuals.
What I did was to download the lot onto my memory stick, and I always have my netbook in the van, so if I come up against an unusual boiler or the customer does not have the instructions then at least I know where to start looking.

Hope this helps

Graham

I once collected about 500 kilogrammes of installation manuals and service instructions, but it usually being untidy took me hours to find the one I wanted.

And I certainly could not get them in the van. The thing is I might get called to a few different models each day.

Fortunately boilers like other appliances usually fall into just a few type categories even combis do. And you can sometimes work them out if you know the type and how they are supposed to work. CITB combi notes give a good explanation.

But the problem is the wide spread use of electronics now. They can be a nightmare and you may need the manufacturers installation and service instructions then.

So try to get a disc.

when i started as Self employed i brought a cd from ebay, it was about £5 and had most boiler install/service manuals on it, still refer back to it now, if its not on there then i go to the manufatures website
