In geology, a fault is a planar fracture or discontinuity in a volume of rock across which there has been significant displacement as a result of rock-mass movements. Large faults within Earth's crust result from the action of plate tectonic forces, with the largest forming the boundaries between the plates, such as subduction zones or transform faults. Energy release associated with rapid movement on active faults is the cause of most earthquakes. Faults may also displace slowly, by aseismic creep.A fault plane is the plane that represents the fracture surface of a fault. A fault trace or fault line is a place where the fault can be seen or mapped on the surface. A fault trace is also the line commonly plotted on geologic maps to represent a fault.A fault zone is a cluster of parallel faults. However, the term is also used for the zone of crushed rock along a single fault. Prolonged motion along closely spaced faults can blur the distinction, as the rock between the faults is converted to fault-bound lenses of rock and then progressively crushed.
I recently installed a C&L Bilbrough tap from B&Q in a new kitchen. Its the one with a a spout with a switch on it as well as a spray head with switch in additon to the hot/cold mixer/volume control. I have found that if both the spout and spray head are closed off and the mixer valve open...
Hey guys. What’s the easiest way of determining that a 2 port motor has failed? I know that if the stat is calling and the arm is set to open on the valve and the actuator is ok it will fire. Is it purely a case of checking whether 240v is at the brown and orange when heat is called for? Any...
Hey there. We have a Ferroli boiler in our commercial premises. It is set on a schedule for 9-5 Friday and a few hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Every Sunday morning we come into an error code of A01. I know what the code means but what I wanted help with is why does it happen on the...
Hoping you guys can help confirm the diagnosis of a fault before I call a plumber.
I've lost heating to the upstairs zone on my heating sysem.
System boiler is working fine feeding two other zones and the hot water.

Had a new Kitchen fitted just before Xmas with integrated Washing Machine and Dishwasher (never again!) Appliances are located around 3.5m away from the sink, in a corner, sink one side, appliances on the other. All hose lengths within manufacturers recommendations btw.
Washing Machine drum...
Just passed my ACS and looking to gain more knowledge in the area of fault finding.
Has anyone been on the Boiler Fault Finding course at Skills TG in Paisley? If so, is it worth attending?
I've tried to get on Baxi, Worcester etc courses but all fully booked.
Cheers in advance
I currently work on new builds with very limited work on the repair, maintenance and fault finding side of boilers. I’m currently renewing my ccn1 and cenwat gas card as I type this and it has made me very interested in getting into this line of work or even have a better understanding of...
Can anyone advise what could be the cause and how to overcome an actuator intermittently not responding when boiler is calling for heat.
Possibly slightly loose fitting to valve, as actuator re-activates with hand pressure movement when boiler is calling for heat. This is an intermittent fault...
A customer rang this morning, says they have a intermittent fault on the boiler P3. Its a Worcester CDI30 I think from a past visit. I did quote for a new boiler 10 months ago, but the old one is still hanging in there. I looked on line as I don't have the book with me. Any suggestions? He says...
Hi. Does anyone know the cause and solution to the f34 fault on a ferroli?
The manual is saying its the low voltage error and to check the supply. Im assuming that its correct as installed and this is a pcb fault. Has anyone had any experience with this fault before i go out tomo?
Hi guys. I’m still very new to boiler fault finding but was wondering whether you could advise me on a particular multimeter or tester that would help with fault finding? The wife has been a good one and got me a Martindale ET5 open jaw tester but I’m unsure whether they’re any good? I can’t...
Can someone help me understand what could be causing this fault?
It only seems to happen when the pressure in the boiler drops below around 1.5 - 1.7 bars otherwise it works fine.
The boiler is a Valiant Eco fit pure 835 and the building is a 3 storey house with 10 radiators.
I have a 5 year old Ideal Logic 15 boiler that has been working alongside an old Grundfos pump possibly about 10years old. The boiler was recently (about 3 weeks ago) repaired and services by an Ideal technician.
I had a plumber yesterday from Local Heros who came to fit a new Grundfos UPS3...
My double flush toilet has developed a fault. It won't stop filling eve when I pull the float arm right up. I have replaced the inlet valve diaphragm but this has made no difference
What else can i try?
Just wondered if anybody could help me with this one....... or advise...

I checked the ignition electrodes and they were caked in sh*t. Cleaned and fired back up.

Disclaimer: I know very little about boilers so sorry if my assumptions are way off! From testing by logging energy usage, and that if I turn the boiler on the meter lights up like a Christmas tree, it seems our Santon PremierPlus boiler (PP170E) is constantly running causing extreme energy...
Have a combination valve with 6.5bar incoming pressure. The valve would have been set at 3 bar presumably, but the property is having lower than normal water pressure from the outlets and operating a second outlet dramatically affects the first outlet. Once the issue was noticed the static...
