Can anyone advise me on fitting an outside tap, the problem is the close proximity to an outside gas meter. Is this against regs?

Well can not think of one, however persume the gas meter is in a outside box for protection,no water should be sprayed around meter that may cause corrosion, not advisable to have above meter/meter box,you should be able to get your hand on outside tap to turn on and off with out disturbing or damaging gas meter box, other than that all should be ok

If to close, someone may think it is a gas tap and connect gas barby to it and turn it into a garden water feature :(

Thanks for that advice, it's a friends son's house and he said that the guy next door couldn't fit a tap because of the gas meter which is in the same position on his house, I was guessing it was covered so thought it shouldn't be a problem unless there was some sort of regulation against it.

as puddle says. the only possibility of reg breach that i can think off - dripping tap onto gas meter or pipework directly. not gonna happen.

Thanks for that, I think it's just a case of over cautious neighbour, still better safe than sorry I suppose.

You won't have any problems as long as it is not directly above like others have said.
You can stick a bip tap anywhere really. Mines tee'd off my outside toilet and obviously fed through the wall.

How much space does your friend have on their outside wall?
