I need to fit a new radiator with trv onto plastic 10mm pipe the trv comes with a 15mm-10mm reducer. Are these any good when going to plastic rather than copper

so these are ok i just need to remember to put an insert in the plastic pipe

Yes the correct insert for make of pipe i.e hep insert for hep pipe. If your worried then I would wrap a few layers of ptfe around the olive make it more secure. If you don't put an insert in the pipe you will be going for a swim lol.

Its JG Speedfit PEX Barrier pipe 10 mm so i will get some inserts for that cheers

If your stuck you can ask little questions like this at a friendly plumbing merchant they have helped me out in the past with things like this.

If you are talking about reducing sets, the strange thick type with a groove in, then no, they aren't designed to be used on plastic pipe. They're only for 10mm copper. If used on plastic, it will leak, and the only chance of sealing/bodging it is with half a tube of LSX.

Trouble is, I'm not sure where you can get a 10mm TRV with proper olives.

i know it will look a bit bulky but what about a 15mm to 10mm compression reducer with a bit of copper in the valve.

Surely there must be a trv that fits on 10mm plastic pipe with some sort of olive or reducer i thought a lot of new builds use this stuff

yes there is look at 10x15 3 part reducing set, dont use the one part type they will leak

Myson do a 10mm push fit valve. Trv's and lockshields. Can push your plastic straight into the valve (with an insert ofc!)

most merchents sell trv in 10mm fitting but ask for a copper 10mm olive for it as most come with a brass one, job done!!!
