what can I use to replace the immersion in this ? why cant a standard one be used? the stat has gone in it and a new one is £46. also [DLMURL]http://warmflow.tpsrv.co.uk/media/13331027883683rev01.pdf[/DLMURL] page 18, the cylinder stat seems faulty. its a jg speedfit system with a zone for ufh, zone for the hot water, and a zone for the towel rails, im getting live into the stat at point B but no live out at point 2 . I am not getting continuity between the 2 points when i turn the stat on an off and I can hear a click . can anybody help me out please. I am G3 qualified. the stat to replace this is also around £80!!!!

Well if you are qualified to work in unvented..your post is frightening...basic fault it seems..
 
well im not going to be replacing it with the same kind because its only jst over 2 years old. so im looking for something to replace it. and Im asking a question on here as I don't know everything . I take it that this forum is for asking and answering questions..........
 
Must use manufactured approved parts to ensure warranty and safety compliance. Yes they are expensive, but thats the way it has to be.
 
what im asking is will any standard unvented immersson fit? job has to be done tomorrow and I cant see me getting one of these anywhere tomorrow
 
I would only use the manufacturers partscas far as an unvented goes. If it goes breasts up then I dont want the finger pointing at me. Prob doesnt help if you need it fixing tomorrow, but its the way I do it.
 
any ideas why im not getting any continuity thru the cylinder stats then?
 
^^^^^^^ shakes his head . Perhaps drip dry you might try to help cxr , thats the idea
 
I agree, it's obvious this chap needs a little advice and drip-dry is being unwelcoming, we are all in the same game and should work together, not against each other

CXR, can you confirm that you are G3 registered? I think this is the concern that drip dry has.

Indeed,sorry if some think I am being unhelpful..but if you are qualified to work on these units and read the original post,you will see the op seems not to be..... with a lack of basic knowledge in this area
If this was a gas appliance ,most would be up in arms with someone posting that they are messing with a stat with built in safety control like this,these units can be just as dangerous..the parts used as replacement must be approved and the cost of them is not really excessive...

Maybe I went about it wrong but to me this poster should hand this job to someone's safe hands who knows what they are doing in this area

The G3 exam usually always covers that with a question about maximum limit of immersion heaters. All new immersion heater stats must have a built in manual (not auto!) resettable cut out in the stat for if the stat itself fails to shut off.
