Saw this flue today, looks to me like the first section is actually meant for a vertical flue and is being used on a horizontal flue... Anyone seen this before? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337785204.436554.jpg

oddball checked the fluing options and the vertical flue kit doesn't look like that either could be a manufacturer change worth a call to valliant dead good to talk to and you could e mail them a picture deffo enough self tappers in it though lol

I've already rang them and sent the pic via email. I'm waiting for a reply. Just thought I try the forum to see if anyone recognises the flue installation?

looks to me like they have stepped up from 4" to 5" to account for a certian flue type, but it depends if you can do this, and if valliant allow it

If I remember correctly, this flue configuration was developed for extended and multi-bend flue installations.
Hopefully Vaillant will remember this too.

I'm going back to job tomo to double check the flue length aswell will ring vaillant again from site if the have not replied by email.

Hi mountain man, they didn't mention that when I spoke to them just that the flue can't be longer then 3.5m inc bends...

Hi Dave
The 242e & 282e are very old boilers so if you consider that the Vaillant tech bods are probably in their 30's or younger they wouldn't remember or conceive of such flue systems and tbh are more focussed on current systems.

Ah ha I found the flue installation instructions and it seems this installation is fine, you can have this type of install its intended for extended flue lengths but you have to use a different flue restricter depending on the length...
Thanks to guys that replied.
