Mira Silver EV shower cartridge fail.
Can anyone suggest why the cartridge fails after 9 to 12 months (starts to drip). Seal kit doesn’t work, tired of buying new cartridge at £130 a pop.
H/W is from a Combi boiler.

Are you getting generic or genuine Mira cartridges if so I would go back to Mira

Hi Julie…it’s 10 years old but I don’t understand how a new unit would solve it. Apart from the cartridge the rest is just a housing with 2 pipes going into it ?
I know, I have been there myself and the only suggestions Mira could come up with were (1) limescale or (2) the valve body itself has a worn or damaged seating so after a while the cartridge doesn't seal anymore.
I'm still seeing 20plus yr old Mira showers only just starting to fail, but as with all manufacturers the build quality has gone down over the years.

The fittings below are for a mixer bar attached to a self contained shower. i.e not a wall. The attaching screws have snapped. I could get two new brackets, dismantle that existing one and start again or I could try and re attach via those screws, removing the broken ones from the plate and wall...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
