As mentioned UNO wall plugs....or if you wanted to go OTT hollow wall anchors.
 
i HATE rawlplug uno plugs! the only 5.5mm red plug that wont fit in a 5.5mm hole!!!! also wont fit thru a standard wc screw hole , so when going to re fit loose toilets i have to pull the wc out to fit the plugs in ! but obviously nobody else gets this problem! haha! so might be down to a personal error!!!
 
my choice depends on what stresses and strains there will be. So in an A/C or where the clip is taking the weight of something then i would aim for an umbrella or spring toggle. otherwise id use a redi driver (pig tail,spiral) plaster board fixing.

if it need to have alot of strength then get some timber involved.
