how to fix pipe clips to plasterboard

Hi all,
Just realised I've never actually had to fix pipe clips (for 15mm copper) to plasterboard.
Am I right in thinking I can just screw them on, with a screw going into a drywall plug?

No. They will just pop out at the first opportunity.
You need to use plasterboard plugs. I can't remember the correct name now, but someone will tell us.
Screwfix, toolstation, or your local merchant will have them.

Oh, you did mention drywall plug in your post. YES, THAT SHOULD BE FINE assuming it is what I think you mean. It's the drink again. I appologise

I find it easier to drill a pilot hole before screwing the plasterboard fixing in, they claim they are self drilling but I've found they normally snap if you don't use a pilot.

I also find the screws supplied with the plasterboard fixings are too tight for the fixings themselves, often turning the plug itself before the screw is fully home!! Therefore I use separate screws from my box!!

And if you use clip spacers the screws are too short......I tend to replace with 2" 8 screws.

use hollow wall fixings and a setting tool and never have any worries
Toolstation > Screws & Fixings > Cavity Fixings

If you have the choice, like in a cupboard or airing cupboard, boiler house etc, - use timber horizontally first.
Just find where the stud work uprights positions are & screw nice finished batons of wood - (2"x1" usually good) level to where you need clips later screwed. This let's you use heavy pipe insulation without the need of clip extensions

Yeah no probs. If i need to remove the pipe from the clip, hold the clip.
