Hi Dudley, hope you enjoy the forums, thought would be better to get hands on experience along with doing city and guilds, but that is easier said than done, maybe force to do college by its self for now

' are people likly to take on a female apprentice',can not see why not, hard to get an apprenticeship male or female,it is a male dominated industry but then again many careers were that are now duel sex, anyway good luck in what you decide and undertake :)

imho

No not birmingham...Essex dont know whether that is better or worse??

Thanks puddle, experience does sound like the best option but the only courses i have found so far are costing around 5k and dont say anything about experiences i spoke to a training provider today and he actually advised me not to get a trainee plumbing job untill i have done over half the course, which to me sounds stupid as most places dont take on qualified people unless they have experience.

Only joking;)

just coming to the end of my 6129 course. In an ideal world getting experience along with the course would be perfect, but not easy to get someone to take you on with no/little experience.
As to women plumbers, one of the tutors at my college is female and only in her twenties, she has her level 3 certificate already an is a good tutor.

Thanks, good luck hope everything goes well after completing the course
