I use one of these from time to time and its really the beez kneez. Problem is the astronomic price of replacement blades. Anyone else use one and does any one have any alternatives to the branded blades/cutters that are cheaper?

Re: Fein Multitool

Don't bother, yes they fit but they are rubbish by comparison. I've had a Fein Multi Master for 4 years now, yes the blades are heinously expensive and the only way I've found to bring the price down is to buy in bulk.

I find the worst thing is when I lend it to my tiler mate for when he trims back the bottom of architraves when tiling floors,,the look on his face when I insist he pays for a pack of blades!!! I do point out to him he could buy his own.

Mine is the old one with the allen screw holding the blade in, the new models have a very sexy quick release system. Quite frankly I believe its one of those tools that once you;ve used it you wonder how you ever got by without it. Its expensive, but good tools tend to be.

Einhelll have just brought out a fairly cheap (almost identical to look at) copy, not sure if the blades are cross compliant, I'll be sticking with Fein.

Re: Fein Multitool

I've got to agree with HTB. Once you've used a Fein (or similar) you won't know how you coped without it. Mine gets used for everything.

I've found the blades to be reasonably long lasting if you let the tool do the work. The only one Iv'e had a problem with is the segment saw blade. They're very brittle and can shatter if you're not careful.

Re: Fein Multitool

I too have a Fein multimaster, fantastic tool and very versatile. I buy my blades from Graham Biddle in Norwich. Usually get a good price although still not cheap.

Re: Fein Multitool

I'll try Graham Bidle then. I also had a saw blade crack.

Re: Fein Multitool

Checkout our Tiling Tool sponsor who stocks a load of the Fein Multimaster blades. Tradetiler tilers Fein Multimaster - Mention you're a member of the plumbing forum and if you order a few blades you'll get a decent discount.

Hope that helps.

Yep, have to agree. I also have a Fein Multimaster. And it really does come into its own when the need arises to remove a single tile with the tiling kit blades.

I keep my old blunt Fein blade and use them to channel out breeze block walls to fit concealed showers, etc. It doesn't matter that the serated edge is gone and they still make easy work of it without the mess of using an angle grinder.

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
