Bulldog, give me no problem and seem to be good value for money.

Danfoss RAS-C for me, good quality valve at a reasonable price. Used a lot of honeywells (eaga) only downside is they look a bit pants, good valve though. Draytons are overpriced tat, they seem to be the favortites for sticking.

The old vaillant TRV's seemed to go on forever!

My only gripe with the Bulldogs are the tails that go into the rad. The last Bulldog I fitted, I swear the tail was a hard plastic.

Im with MFGS. The customer gets the cheapest unless they specify their own ones.

Another vote for Danfoss. Used them most of my life. The only truly reversible valve on the market afaik. Danfoss probably have well over half the market in trv's up here. Cost under a tenner with a l/s for ras -c's. Ras -d's are a bit more expensive.
Never been a fan of Drayton's. 112's look cheap and nasty and are junk and the 414's not much better.
Never seen a west therm fitted for 25 years at least.

Don't mind the westtherm tbh draytons are overpriced imo i fit whatever custard budget is suited to though

I have been using Tower for a while, as supplied by toolstation for £7.88 with lockshield. Liquid Sensor and reversible. Not had a problem yet.

Draytons give a lot of trouble & are expensive. (incidentally, Lifestyle TRVs are cheaper Drayton valves).
Peglers Terrier TRVs are not cheap but have dainty heads, with coloured numbers for heat settings. An odd body fails to turn off fully eventually, but the cheaper Peglers Bulldog uses same body, I think.
Mistral valves seem good & cheap.
Danfoss RAS- C are probably hard to beat. The heads will not break if knocked slightly, unlike most. Although the heads are a tad bulky & the body is a bit odd, with few threads, short pipe depths & heavy hard olives.
Myson TRVs are terrible - bulky heads that jam off, bodies that stick or leak.
Westherm were very reliable.
So it's Danfoss first or Bulldog or probably Mistral for me. I think most TRVs only have a short life, so if the cheaper ones last 10 years or so, they are better all renewed.

I've had Drayton TRV 3s fitted to my system for 23 years with no problem.

Guess it's like other things in life, it's what you feel serves you well.
I have seen a lot of Draytons that have leaked at the pin & seized solid & have to be replaced. Admit most are 15 year old at least, but it does put you off Draytons & a lot of other makes of TRVs are capable of lasting a very long time. I think the Danfoss valves will probably last well & are very reasonable priced, although an odd body.
The older Danfoss valves, you were able to replace the gland which saved a drain down. Perhaps the RAS -C Danfoss glands are available to buy?
