Hello there,

Got a problem with my thermostatic shower mixer valve,

The hot water is no longer hot and is coming out only luke warm, the problem started about 3 weeks ago, all the other hot taps in the house are very hot. the mixer valve is in a seperate shower encloser not over the bath.

I've been told that the cartidge in the shower bar is gone, but as i dont know the make and it has no makers mark on i cant buy a replacement.

Im i right in thinking that i can just change the valve for another one? are the threaded BSP connections standard on all shower valves? or do i need to replace the mounting bracket in the wall.

The pipe centres i believe are 150mm

Will this fit?

fitting wise could anything gone wrong? i'm quite happy to swap it over myself or have a go..

Post pics of original shower

I can see much problem in changing if it's of similar design

Check the strainer on the hot before you condem your old shower

But I would agree that you cartridge has failed

I agree with Simon, I've had lucky customers in the past when it just turned out to be a blocked filter but they are few and far between.

On a positive note, all the bar showers I have fitted have the same connection and its dead easy to do a swap.

By the way, your link doesn't seem to work.

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
