Hi, there.

I am considering buying a multimeter for my father as a Christmas gift. if anyone here owns one and could give some feedback as to there accuracy and quality. Thanks in advance.

Those from Maplin are good though at present I'm using a Martindale meter with fuse protected leads.
As Croppie says, it depends on your budget.

It depends on what he would use it for, I have had a Fluke 116 for a few years now and it has been great.
There are a few old threads if you do a search and some other opinions on what people use.

I use a Fluke 106 which measures micro Amps, which is a useful feature for boiler diagnostic work. It's quite pricey but really nice to use. Really depends on what he's going to use it for.

I bought a Mastech for twenty quid, Chinese but surprisingly okay for the money.

Hi,

You might want to consider a clamp style multi meter, handy for current measurement if your a little nervous about doing such, as it uses induction so no physical connection required to the circuit. They have standard leads for voltage and resistance measurement.
Can get a half decent one for around ÂŁ50 or so.
