its a 3/8'', got a couple from screwfix.

Brilliant!!! i didnt see them on their website, if screwfix do them then the small merchants will. oh thank god for that, its always the little jobs you do after work as a favour that go **** up isnt it?!
 
The best way to deal with this, if it's a plastic cistern, is to drill the hole through the cistern out to suit the 1/2" torbeck valve. you can do that in minutes, certainly alot quicker than running back to the merchants to change the torbeck valve for a 3/8" valve. It's always better to do the job on the first visit.
