entry
In general, a port of entry (POE) is a place where one may lawfully enter a country. It typically has border security staff and facilities to check passports and visas and to inspect luggage to assure that contraband is not imported. International airports are usually ports of entry, as are road and rail crossings on a land border. Seaports can be used as ports of entry only if a dedicated customs presence is posted there. The choice of whether to become a port of entry is up to the civil authority controlling the port.
First of all , a bit late but, a Happy New Year to everybody on the forum. Surely 2022 cannot be as strange as 2021, or can it?
Anyway I digress.
My question relates to entry positions on a radiator. I know for one that Stelrad say do not have bottom entry and top exit. This is supposedly to...
Hi all. I'm having issues with the Flomasta bottom-entry fill valve in a toilet; the 'float' comes up but doesn't have any effect, it simply won't stop filling, leading to water constantly flowing down the overflow. The cistern is in a sealed unit so without ripping the whole thing apart is only...

Hi folks,
I'm a bit concerned with what the Gas Transporter is proposing regarding a replacement pipe install to the properties in the close I live on. The demographic is predominantly elderly, but it seems to be the contractors have gone a bit kamikaze & seem obsessed with finishing early...
Hi
If anyone can give me any advise on how to stop a leak please ?
I have just installed a new Fluidmaster 400 float valve bottom entry brass shank.
It is now leaking with a drip from the bottom white plastic washer which fits onto the cistern.
I made sure the rubber washer was put on cone end...
Every time the Flowmasta refills with wate rit makes a very loud long groaning noise. Any ideas as to what causes it and how I can stop it (other than buying a replacement)?
Flomasta fill valve bottom entry with brass shank, v 1.1
Looks great but the instructions say the cistern thickness at the bottom mounting point must be min 8.5mm. Just a diagram - doesn't say why.
My cistern is a concealed one made of polythene or something like it, and is only 5mm thick...
I am doing a DIY job - fitting a new inlet valve - "Viva Skylo Bottom Entry Fill Valve Plastic Shank" 1/2 inch.
The existing pipe to the underside is copper with an olive and nut and fits reasonably well, and is watertight. A dribble of water went in and then stopped.
The inlet pipe on the...
Hi - I have the (apparently) dreaded twin entry valve radiators. I really would like to get rid of my immersion heater (to make additional room in a new bathroom) so I believe I can't have a combi boiler with these old twin entry valves. So I would like to re-route the outlet valve (that goes to...
The inlet valve bottom entry to toilet cistern developed a drip that flowed under toilet and dampened grout on tiles. Initially I could not figure where leak was so fearing it was an underfloor pipe I called out the original plumber from 13 years ago. Turns out it was the inlet valve to...
Hi. Looking for some hopefully very simply advice. I needed to replace a side entry flush valve on an enclosed toilet. I have installed the new flush valve but am having problems connecting it to the mains water supply pipe. The flush valve is 1/2" and pipe is threaded plastic. The mains supply...
Hi, can anyone tell me if this is possible, and if i would need to fit the internal 'lance' to a some sort of valve? Or do radiators come with the lance already installed?

Afternoon everyone,
Currently looking to learn the trade and trying to find the best entry routes in. I will be working full time around this so an apprenticeship is not viable as will not pay the mortgage. My local college offers a level 2 diploma in plumbing part time. Also I do have a...
Hi,
I’m looking to replace a shower mixer as attached but can’t find one. Want to avoid having to move pipes, deal with tiles etc as for a family member so want to keep cost to a minimum.
Any thoughts on potential replacement appreciated.
With thanks.
Hi all,
I'd appreciate some advice pretty urgently please.
Our house has a rare (apparently) radiator system in that is has twin/double entry return valves. Rather old. Been told only 1 in every 10000 homes still have these.
Anyway. Trying to remove one of the radiators ready for wall...
Hi all,
I fitted a Fluidmaster 1/2" bottom entry fill valve in a toilet about 4 years ago, and it's all been problem-free until last week, when the seal against the cistern began to leak.
Looking at again, I'm not entirely convinced about the sizes of the fittings:
the water pipe fitting...
Last November I had a cctv drain survey & one of the access points they used was the waste pipe from the toilet which runs down through my kitchen. The entry point is near the bottom of the pipe as per the attached photo. Its now leaking from the bottom of this entry point & the guy who did the...
