Hi guys,

phoned worcester technical to find out resistance of coils on greenstar 24i junior to be told approx 170 on bottom pins and 340 on top pins. Asked then what the 2 top pins controlled as I got an open circuit/ no resistance on top 2 pins the other day and it would fire up but customer said it's now working.

guy tells me that's right as it's something to do with the stuff that's put in the coil when is made!!!

I hung up at that point.

Can an anyone tell me what the resistance should be on both sets of pins please? Also does it matter if the electrical connections are put in the wrong way as they each fit either pins

I don't think it matters. I went to an intermittent fault on one before where it would go to lockout every other time it fired, which was due to a faulty gas valve, as one of the coils was open line, so I'm assuming it only uses one coil at a time?

170 ohms and 340 ohms. If you have open circuit the coil is shot. The old gas valves are prone to failure. You usually get cracks in the plastic too.

I've just been back and it's showing as 1.2kohms now

I've found their technical pretty good, the boilers however are a load of tosh.

As with them all it depends who you speak to, although generally I found them good.

What would be better though is not having to phone them as much in the first place!
