Discuss Why has pressure dropped throughout the house after fitting an outside tap? in the USA area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi, I fitted an outside tap kit yesterday, it works fine but pressure has dropped a lot in all other taps?

Is it one of them self cutting ones ?

The self cutting thing forces a hole in the pipe a bit like a holepunch. The punched bit normally hangs off in the bore of the pipe, hopefully to one side, but you obviously weren't lucky. Sounds like your punched bit is now obstructing the bore of the pipe. You may be able to bend the punched bit of copper to one side of the internal bore and hope it doesn't come loose altogether and run to somewhere it may cause a further nuisance of itself.

I personally wouldn't ever fit one of those kits, but I can see the DIY appeal in that they are cheaper than calling a plumber out - when it all goes smoothly!

Let's hope I'm wrong and it's something else.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
