employ people who know what they are doing!!

sounds like it's been fitted by builders who have no idea of the correct setup

costcutting like this often costs more in the long run

it just goes to show that building control dont know what they are doing when it comes to this stuff, how many are plumbers?

Re: unvented cylinder

the full plans submitted for the development, combi boilers and gas central heating, but the developer installed unvented cylinders and electrical panel heaters did not inform building control, building control did not come to site so did not know of there existence, three engineers one from building control have confirmed breach but no one admit there part

Building control seem to know little about anything, they come round nit pick on some small thing, so it looks like they know what they are doing and that is about it, in the past, have asked them about something technical and show them what we are doing, to try to get them involved and show we are taking job seriously ect and they scamper away
Always feel sorry for people who have works done, invest alot of their money and think all must be ok because passed by building control and then things start falling apart a few years later, all they are good for and why we put up with them is because you need that worthless bit of paper at end of job.
To be fair, with all the regs now, think unreasonable to have one man checking all works, should have people with basic knowledge and specialising in certain areas and each area should be checked by the specialist at least once on the bigger jobs and on smaller jobs, at least plans should be checked
I have seen some unbelievable stuff passed by building control; unvented systems always stand out for some reason
Why they do not insist on the basic paperwork ,I do not know, each job should have copies of everyone’s reg certificates least then Building control could say, look all done by correct people, sue them, do not even do that, how can they pass places were the installations have not even been registered with themselves! But they do

In this case would e mail building control as well, advise customer in writting, let them get on with it and move on,do'nt waste to much time,am sure those concerned will do enough of that

imho

Just another way for them to get out of their responsibility, they spend more time working out loop holes of how to get out of doing there job right
They will say Alf was doing last inspection but had a bad back and was off that day and building paperwork got mixed up by X ray department ect
