Ok....... after completing my gas exams things are not moving on swiftly as I would like or need as an old codger of 45... I bought the original john reginald book central heating fault finding and repair and have found it a usefull reference point...... I know he has done one on combi boilers has anyone got it (if so have you finished and want to sell it) or can anyone tell me if it is worth getting.....

With thanks

Your best bet is get on as many courses as you can. Reading is good but hands on is alot better. Try and get on an electrical course as well as alot of faults you need to check voltage/ resistance

Hi Millsy......

Just done the vaillant part 2......Brilliant...... still some way to go but head like a seive so good or reference and fault finding.. Still want to do some but cost is out the way t the mo so thought reading might keep me focused....

I have the combi fault finding book, I carry it in the van but not had to use it much yet. Get my head in it every now and then but pointless really unless actually using it on a job.

Hi they used to say as a last resort you could discharge the D2 pipework at high level and turn it back to the wall. Similar to a combi boiler. I have just looked back through the regs this seems to have changed and it isn't mentioned now. It now mentions if at high level it should be discharged...
