About 10 years ago we made 2 joining properties into one, joining all the plumbing and electrics. Our AGA SF55 solid fuel gravity fed boiler wasn't strong enough to pump 16 radiators so we installed 3 storage heaters that we run off ecconomy 7 as well as having the boiler for heating the water through the winter and an open fire. In the summer we use an immersion heater.

We're looking to replace the boiler in the spring/summer with a strong enough pump to run 16 radiators and heat the water but have no idea where to start.

My Dad used to work for the Coalboard so gets an allowance of smokeless solid fuel a year so would prefer to stick to that instead of a woodburning stove.

Attached rough house plan which isn't to scale

Any advice would be gratefully received

Helen

Welcome to the forum Helen, can`t help you myself and fear you may be kept waiting, something to do with a forum sponsor and Black Friday deals going on, hope you understand.

Also, it might help the guys if you could say where the Aga is now, don`t see kitchen on the drawing.

No worries.
The boiler is in the far right room on the drawing (don't know why the image is so big I condenced down the file size). The 2 rooms downstairs with sinks in are the kitchens but the one on the right is our main kitchen and the one on the left is our utility but they're roughly the same size.

Thanks for your reply

Thanks Norcs for the link.
Like the idea of the 10 year anti leak warranty and adjustable doors. Looks a sturdy boiler :)
What about the colours though, yellow, green and red, why not black?

How would I work out what size we'd need though re rough price? (nothing too complicated please)

rpm :) :)

Helen

If you know what size boiler heated a single property then double it. Will give you a rough idea. Various online sizing software available also or get a plumber to do the sizing for you.
