what do you guys use for sticking marble back to wall and what do you use to seel around marble edge of builders opening/?

looking for peoples preferred method:smile5:

i did a placement for building my portfolio with a large fireplace firm and they used fireproof plaster board to make up the difference in the space between the wall and the surround and then mixed bonding and cement to seal the space in the opening..

heat resistant sillycone on the inside of the opening, and then a small amount of gripfill or some tile adhesive. I did use some precast block cement for a while as i had it given me for free and that was really good.

if you are fitting natural stone type surrounds then you need to use a tile adhesive suitable for the type of material as then can stain and discolour otherwise.

quality tile addisive ,in regards to around the opening if its a small gap ditto if not sand and cement in all cases i build a brick chamber to form the opening i take this right up to the marble to stop cracking then seal with addisive or if needed rope and addisive

i would not use any plasterboard, its only fire rated and you cant have plaster board inside the opening, it must be no combustable materials/solid.

bucket of tile adhesive dob n dabbed on marble, filleted on edges and pointed out in opening.

quick settting cement based tile adhesive should be fine, but its good to ask at local tile showroom as to what suits what material.

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hi they used to say as a last resort you could discharge the D2 pipework at high level and turn it back to the wall. Similar to a combi boiler. I have just looked back through the regs this seems to have changed and it isn't mentioned now. It now mentions if at high level it should be discharged...

Can anyone recommend a decent multi meter, preferably under a 100 pounds. It's for checking boiler components so I don't need a top spec one ....just easy to use and reliable. The fluke 115 looks good but its above my budget. My current socket and see one was great but it's developed a fault.

Hello all, I'm would like to extend an existing outside tap to another point in the garden. I'm about to pour a concrete patio and was hoping to run the water line underneath. There are existing drain (and who knows what) pipes running along the same wall so I'm nervous about digging too far...
