good day folks,

First of all forgive the misuse of terms and part naming.. a little knowledge and internet search is to blame.

I gave a bathroom rad which is cold, which has two manual valves... one of which only turns a quarter turn which I suspect is the reason for the cold rad as it the input valve.
The reason why I suspect the valve is I have an identical setup elsewhere and the valve turns through 360 with ease.
So rather than replace the whole fitting can I replace the valve (spindle/lock shield did warn you about terms...)? And if so where can I get one... is it the same as a tap cartridge?

Any help and advise greatly appreciated.

Garry

Sorry to say no you can't just replace the insides to a lockshield valve

If you can post a pic up of the valve and we can tell you which one you need to replace it with

Just in the meantime do you have any hand tools like an adjustable spanner and a hammer ?

As luck (?) would have it I have the suggested tools, in fact more tools than knowledge!
Hopefully the picture shows enough detail for identification.

Cheers

I have had loads of towel rail valve seize like yours and have also snapped a couple. (Using to much force to free it. I would say for the price of a set of new valves drain it down and change them.

If you cant fix the valve with the spanner then take your frustration out on it with the hammer! :D

Sorry, that didnt help at all did it!!!;)

Helpful = Hopefully
Funny = 100%

As I always say if it hits the fan you can either laugh and clean up or quickly stand behind someone just before the fun starts!

Hello plumbers in my internet. So the Mrs want a spray mixer tap in the kitchen as we had two separate taps. I changed the tap for a temporary two hole mixer but the cold water pressure is high mains fed and the hot is low pressure immersion tank fed. I've been trying to find info on what I...

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

Hi all I'm hoping someone can shine a light on this for me Since our stop tap on the pavement has now been filled with sand for whatever reason, we are relying on our property fitted stopcock (this is outside on our garage wall) Unfortunately turning this to the closed position only reduces...

I am in process of replacing an existing sink with a new stainless steel one. The existing tap is plumbed directly to copper which means that it is earthed. The new tap will use flexible tails and so will not be earth bonded. My initial search for information suggests that there is no legal...
