when boiler was checked a couple of months ago, remember the BG engineer saying pressure quite high and he'd fixed it. We've noticed a loud humming at night when heating on, and now realized the pressure is 2.5 bar when heating on, and up to 3 when on, when the green band ( I assume the norm) iis betweeen 1 and 2 Is this dangerous, should I ring BG? or is it somethnig I could fix, any reply appreciated.

Although you might get messy, you could try undoing (without taking it out!) a bleed valve on a radiator and letting some water out. If this makes a difference after a few minutes and brings the pressure down, all well and good. If the pressure increases again the next day (or so) it could be the filling loop has a "fault" in it as it indicates water is constantly entering the heating system.

If I was you, I'd fetch BG out again and see what they suggest.

Give BG a call, should be a simple fix. Proberly the expansion vessel wants recharging, unless the filling loop is passing.

thanks, did that and it reduced pressure to 2, will monitor to see if goes up again, and if so will ring BG like you and other suggest

thanks for quick reply, did bleed a radiator of some water, and pressure went to 2. If it increases again, will ring BG

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
