Hi,
A plumber is replacing my bath for me and has highlighted the soft bright Blue Powdery/Gritty deposit that is congesting the Mains Cold 12mm copper pipe. Its lumpy and irregular throughout the pipe. I've seen Scale build-up before, and it was white and very hard. This stuff is easily moved.
We also live in a very soft water area. The plumber doesn't know what it is.
Anyone recognise it please? Can it be removed easily please?
Water quality is good. The plumbing was installed in 1976.

Any water works been going on in the area ?

Not to my knowledge. I had the street valve pressure restrictor looked at a few months ago and that improved my flow to about 20 litres/min (from 10l/min) but the water during that work was a very muddy brown.

Any chance you could take a pic of the blue bits ?

Flux!?!?! There would have to be a hell of a lot of it? How much is used? How do I get rid of it?

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...
