Just resealed shower concealing plate with silicone.

Q1: I caulked around, used finger to shape silicone, then wiped over with fairy.
There is a very fine layer of silicone there. Do I need a thick bead to make things watertight?

Old Sealing grommet has had it.

Q2: Sealing grommet between shower knob and concealing plate has had it. Local plumbers merchant didnt have grommet but I got a similarly sized o ring. Could I shoot a tiny bit of silicone into the gap, wipe over then put an o ring in? Is there an easier way to make the gap between shower concealing plate and shower knob?

Its a recessed shower if that helps.

Thanks

Bert

dont know about the o ring but next time use baby wipes to work the silicone much easier and the silicone wont go green LOL

Thanks Gas Man. Yes, it was a bit of a hurry to wipe the fairy off and not have green silicone. I like the baby wipes idea. Anyone on the o ring /sealing grommet?
