Hi,

I a planning 4 bathroom renovations. The plumber we are thinking of using has asked us to supply the sanitaryware. I have a list of the products we want (i.e. Hansgrohe, Catalano, Laufen, Bette and Matki) could you please recommend a good plumber merchant that offers good customer service and reliable service.

Thank you!

Call in to a few and see what they can do for you on price, delivery etc. You can usually gauge what their service will be like based on how you're treated when dealing with them face to face. If they leave you stood there while they talk about football with a fat plumber in bright blue trousers, you'll probably be best walking away, If they take the time to discuss your needs and offer advice on products then you should be ok. I find James Hargreaves to be quite good (dealt with branches all over Yorkshire) and they have all been positive experience. Same with Grahams. A couple of places I only use if I need materials in a hurry and I'm not near the ones I know. The small independants can be really good as well. There's also Ray Stafford on the forum from Williams and co. who's very helpful. It depends where you're located.

Thanks for the pitch leelister6, but we would only deal with the plumber. If the OP is providing his own sanitaryware, we would politely point him to the nearest independent retailer. :)

Good luck LCV - what part of the world are you in?

Are you that strict on the rules Ray?

I can understand and actually admire your stance on Trade Only sales.

In this situation - if the owners asked you to price for the items, would you quote it for them and then tell them to get a Plumber to purchase, or would you say you only deal with the trade.

Just curious

Yes, we are pretty strict Oz.

To be honest, we would rather not even talk to the end user. We run a low overhead business based on the principle that our trade customers know what they are doing, and there isn't a margin there to spend the time messing around with retail customers who dont understand what sort of hot water system they have..

On top of that, we are firm believers that tradesmen should decide his margin on materials, not us.

The only time that we would knowingly quote a retail customer is if one of our trade regulars expressly asked us to. This does happen, but we discourage it.

Thanks for your replies. That's a good tip Leelister6.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I live in London.
