smelly joints?

I dont mean to sound like a ponse, but the smell of jointing compound just doesnt wash off easily for me. I'm talking that typical type that you have to mix that top layer of fluid in between uses..

What brand / type is there that doesnt have that bloody smell ?

There is a lot of different stuff
Boss White is good for flax

I use rectoseal for fittings

Are you talking boss white? Because that can't be used on potable water or gas.

That top layer of fluid is linseed oil. Personally i love it and so does the wife. I got her a tin for christmas :wink:

Jet Lube for me too! Expensive, but can be used on potable water, gas, etc and it doesn't harden, so no waste in the tub and no seized joints.

It's a bit pricey, but i can't remem the last leak on compression joints so well worth it, and lasts ages! I notice screwfix do a budget compound in the exact packaging, I expect it's the Jetlube re-branded!!! It even has the yellow lid!

I use the Regin gas and water jointing compound. Same sort of stuff, stays usable to the last smear. Mind you it stinks as well.

You solely rely on the compression of the olive or whatever alone? I'd rather not trust that when fitting an entire house and finding the machined parts are defected , but I respect your courage haha.

Ahh!! Thats the bloody stuff I used when I was a plumbers mate (a complete cowboy but he had that stuff), its fantastic I couldnt remember the name only that it was slightly 'moussey' in texture.. All the merchants looked at me like dogs being shown a card trick when I tried to describe it..
Purchasing some tins now !!
