I have a slight problem with a monobloc tap in the kitchen! The hot tap is stiff to turn and when it is tuned takes more of a turn to let water flow than the cold. Also the water has a poor flow rate! Am I right in sayin the tap needs re-seating or shud i just replace it?

Hi

Well does not sound like a re seat job,you could try just replacing the tap heads, with tap revivers

The slow flow rate could be the heads not opening correctly, cold on tap should be ok as hopefully on mains

Hot could be restricted through tap if from open vented cylinder,as could be designed for mains hot pressure through unvented cylinder or combi

Anyway first thing to do is remove heads, see if flow is ok if so replace heads ,if not, change tap for hot low pressure type, after checking any flexi hoses are not kinked
:)

Hi

Take the hot side head off and inspect and go from there

Most likely is that you need a new washer for the hot side valve

Take the valve and washer to a plumbers merchant and see what they have, if nothing mathces then a pair of revivers will do

Or look at a nice new tap to spruce your kitchen up

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
