Discuss Should I be concerned by this gas piping connection? in the Gas Engineers Forum area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi all,

The shop below my flat has recently had gas and an external box installed. Two days ago British Gas fitted a meter then yesterday workman started drilling into box and messing with piping. The box door was left open so I had a look and took these photos.

Obviously I'm concerned about the quality of the work as this is directly below my flat. The workman are the builders converting the space below me to a flat. They have a gas safe sticker on the van.

Is this safe? who should I contact if not?

Much appreciated
Ady

Yep not to regs but upto you if you want to proceed any further as it’s not your property

Gas safe

How are they going to install the spigot tube ?

No you are not allowed to drill through a Meter Box its against the regs well in Ireland Anyway I am sure its the same in UK If you take a look on the right side of box big hole that should be sealed nothing to stop a gas leek from going into building the gas sleeve is not sealed .This hole in gas meter box is a Hazard if i came to work at this house i would nock gas off and issue a Hazard Notice
