If its in a wall whats it matter?

It will be hidden within days behind some boarding and then your concern will be who bent your tails coming out.

Obviously gas is a no no, other pipes need to be inside a sound proof boxing same as electrical switches are put in sound proof boxes.

Brick walls just need the render coat first.

as for other plumbers on new build as you know most don't know the regs or care to know. You spend a lot of extra time sticking to the regs like drill zones and then the sparky comes in and drill where he wants and the back of the gas boxes. Sometimes you wonder why you bother when nobody else does or cares.

I have searched all over the web now for info on pipes in a party wall and found nothing. (Apart from gas).
Seems even surveyers are unaware of any issues. A "party wall agreement" says nothing either. Part A of the building regs gives info on cutting chases but still nothing on pipes in a party wall. Surely this info should be readily available. Obviously it isn't an issue.

its building regs part E, resistance to sound.

certain performance levels are needed in the construction of the wall which will include the plasterboard values etc.... anything that makes a noise that is put inside the wall will need to be installed in a way to keep the rating of the wall the same. The robust details on the job will need to be checked.

Hi they used to say as a last resort you could discharge the D2 pipework at high level and turn it back to the wall. Similar to a combi boiler. I have just looked back through the regs this seems to have changed and it isn't mentioned now. It now mentions if at high level it should be discharged...
