Pcb boards and component testing!

Hello all! Just a quick question! Does anyone know of the correct way of testing a pcb board with a multi meter? If so could you run me threw it!
Iv test components before with just a basic continuity test ( I.e. on an air pressure switch whilst blowing lightly threw It to check its working, or just a fuse or flow switch etc....
But just wondered what the correct way was of testing the pcb board is! Checking the resistance or what ever.....

There is no way. All boards are different

Sometimes you can test a transformer but even then all pcbs have different transformers

You'll need specialist advice from manufacturers for any test procedures

Benny there is no "correct way" .. There is no "way"! About the only test you could do on a PCB is short circuit check IMHO ...

drop multi meter on pcb board to see if it can take the impact.?

Lol! I went to one the other day! It was a remeha 28c or somthing like that! I changed the diverted valve! But then had no power after pressurising back up! I hadent even checked if there was power before I started the work! It wasn't until the customer told me it had just turned off all together a few days previous ! So I knew it wasent anything I had done! I had 240 volts from the sper to the pcb but then nothing anywhere els! Conlusion........ pcb!? I'v ordered a new one anyway tho just thought I would check I'm case there was a way!

There was also none of those little pcb fuses on this one either! Come to think of it I hadent even checked what fuse was in the sper so I will check that when I o bak to change the board!

Actually thinking about your question I assumed you meant any kind of generic tests which apart from short circuit i can't think of any ... However there are many tests you do with the multimeter associated with the PCB .. depends on where the MI's fault finding takes you ...

I now need glasses to identify most terminal block ID's on PCB's ..... NOT HAPPY!!!

Benny, you got a problem with a boiler maybe letting us in on the make and model and the problem will help us more help you

there's a fuse on the main pcb on a remeha avanta boiler,front middle, black tube stood on end with plastic screw head.

Yes the diverted valve was leaking! The ser clip holding the motor on was completely corroded and snapped as soon as I touched it! I spend 20 minutes trying to dig the rest of the rusted clip out so as to connect th motor to the new diverter! I'd upload a photo for you but I'm on. iPad and I won't let me :/:icon9:

This design diverter is prone to leaking up through the spindle. As puddle says, due to dirty system water/debris on the spindle!

Went back today guys and replaced the fuse in the circuit board and it sorted it! Thank you all for your help and comments!

The water in the diverter actuator can pop the fuses and/or trip the house consumer unit benny Did you replace the actuator?

Actuator= the component that fits on top of the diverter valve?!

If so no I never tho it seamed to be ok! And is all working fine now along as the new diverter doesn't leak!
Advised customer that system needs draining and replaceing of water and inhibitor!
So it's up to him!

True! Main thing is it's all up and working again
