Hello all,

Please could you give me a quick overview on how to use a multimeter to test correct operation of boiler components, e.g.
Fans
Pumps
Thermistors
Thermostats
APS
Gas valves
Etc.
Cheers
 
Some boiler manufacturers do courses for this sort of thing, Ideal do one "essential electrics" and usually free
 
I have some knowledge of how to check these, however, was hoping for some additional info, experience and knowledge from the forum members!
 
easier to learn it from there as the guys explains it really well, so thats my advice all done.
 
think theres a few emails floating around on testing tips. just had a quick look but not found any yet.

Il forward stuff ( private message ) out of the fault finding that's in the pub stickie that croppie made. It's brilliant.
 
Fan - if it's getting voltage (check in book if ac/dc) and it's not spinning oops new fan.

Check resistance through coil. Check resistance to earth should be more than 4m

Pump check Volts (ac 97.5%) if Volts and no spin - new pump

If no Volts new pcb

Check live to earth resistance should be more than 1m

Make sure you've all the proper probes n attachments as makes testing easier if awkward places or terminals are really small.

Mutley it's in the arms. Go into arms and look at thread at top can't remember wot it's called it's got loads more than just bg. Load's have added to it.
 
Called pdf and documents stored .

Sorry taffman, not been back for a day or so, no I haven't got a copy didn't know wether you had managed to get one.
