Hi guys. In previous posts I've mentioned that I'm starting my gas course in January but I'm concerned about what I'm learning on the job. I work for a company but they don't do any maintenance work or install fires. I'm wondering how I go about learning to carry out these tasks?

You might struggle for evidence if you're not doing any maintenance work, it would depend on the course and the centre you're doing it with, speak to them? Also the basic ACS course doesn't include fires, that's a separate module unless you've added that on. Basic ACS is boilers, water heaters, pipe work and flue gas analysers if I remeber rightly?

Dont worry macka, you can only do what your given at work, i served my time with a plumbing n heating company who also specialised in kitchen fitting , so i spent alot of my apprenticeship fitting kitchens , i hated going to college as in class they used to talk about things id never seen let alone worked on, when you do your gas they will explain servicing and maintanance procedures and all the different types of fires and youl have books you can study up on, granted that onsite experience is good but dont panic as it will all fall into place ,
