Hi Guys,

My chimney failed the test so I need to install a flue liner for my Gazco Stockton gas fire. It was over a year ago when the engineer condemned the chimney and I remember him also saying something about it needing some sort of box fitted into the fire recess but I can't remember the exact details.
I have someone lined up to install the liner but he has asked me what type of flue liner I need.
According to the manual that came with my fire, I need a 5 inch (127mm) flue liner but I suspect there will be a few different types. I already have a closure plate fitted.
So my questions are:
1. What type of liner will I need?
2. What is the "box" that the engineer mentioned?
3. What length flue liner do you think I will need? (large 3 storey Victorian terraced house)

Any advice appreciated.

won’t be cheap about £20 a metre don’t even think about doing it yourself it’s either scaffold job or big cherry picker lift. And 2 men. You probably won’t get much change out of £1500 to £2000. Need a gas safe fitter and flue specialist really.

Thanks. I won't be doing it myself. I have someone lied up to put the flue liner in but I just want to make sure I buy the correct liner. Is any stainless 5" gas flue liner OK?

Hi. I need a new toilet supply line but don’t know the size type of the fitting at the shut off valve. It is not 3/8 compression. It is a plastic nut about the same size as the one going into the cistern but has a different thread. Attached is a photo. Can you advise. Thanks.
