liner
A low-ionization nuclear emission-line region (LINER) is a type of galactic nucleus that is defined by its spectral line emission. The spectra typically include line emission from weakly ionized or neutral atoms, such as O, O+, N+, and S+. Conversely, the spectral line emission from strongly ionized atoms, such as O++, Ne++, and He+, is relatively weak. The class of galactic nuclei was first identified by Timothy Heckman in the third of a series of papers on the spectra of galactic nuclei that were published in 1980.
I am seeking some advice on how to seal up my sump pit. I currently get condensation on the walls and floor around the pit, and in the past there has been accumulation of mold on the walls, due to about 6" of standing water in the bottom of the pit. The air also smells bad and is somewhat...
Hi Guys,
My chimney failed the test so I need to install a flue liner for my Gazco Stockton gas fire. It was over a year ago when the engineer condemned the chimney and I remember him also saying something about it needing some sort of box fitted into the fire recess but I can't remember the...
Morning,
I'm planning chimney maintenance work in July. Its a stone chimney, cement rendered above the roofline with wood burner and stainless lined flue installed 8/9 years ago. There is no ventilation of the space in the chimney around the liner. Is there any reason why I shouldn't put a...
I am planning to refurbish a bathroom in a "modern" house - ie 30 years old. Part of the work is to install a new shower pan and cubicle together with wall boards (inside the shower only). The bathroom is upstairs and sits on a chipboard floor. Although there is no evidence of leakage under the...
hello,
I have a question regarding the minimum size of a chimney for a gas fire.
The builder doing the house refurbishment has apparently got fires included in his gas safe, so they are undertaking the work.
They are building a chimney breast from new, there are 2 basket gas fires rated at...
Can anyone confirm if chimney flexi flue liners can be used on different gas appliances?
i.e remove the flue pipe from an open flued gas boiler and fit gas fire in its place, utilising the existing flexi flue liner and chimney pot?
I know you cant use a gas flue liner for a solid wood...
Hi,
i went out to look at a job and found gas fire fitted with a flue liner which runs in 12" x 12 " plasterboard boxing, ive only ever fit fires to brick chimneys or pre cast flues/ balanced flues, Just need advice on regs to confirm the installation is ID, as the boxing would have a wood...
Plastered a chimney breat and the client asked me to install a flue liner for a stove. What I did was put the long bendy flue liner down the clay liners, bent it without damaging it and plastered around it. Now I'm wondering did I do this properly! If I've did it wrong, can you advise me on how...
im seeing if anyone uses them infa red measuring devices for checking the length of a chimney for lining sizing , does any body use them or what other methods are best for quick sizing a liner
Anyone know of a supplier for 80mm flue liner?
One of my pals has the enviable task of fitting a Dutch fire that requires an 80mm liner and a 12mm gas connection. FUN TIMES. Thought I'd see if any of you guys were in the know.
Thanks
Just fell off me chair with a quote from specflue for a twin walled flue for a biomass boiler, apparently they only have one make (their most seriously expensive version) with an adapter for this particular boiler
Normally they see us proud, either letting us down or taking the p**s on this...
I know it's in the books as an unpreferred method of sealing a flue liner to a chimney by using mineral wool, but I have never seen this method actually used. However, I may need to have recourse to this method myself on a current job as I cannot get enough room to fit a gather adapter without...
Existing chimney flue versus recommended flue liners
How do I know if the draw on my existing chimney flue is good enough for a multifuel woodburning stove, so that I do not need to install a flue liner.
Let's say the smoke test has been performed and no leakages have been detected.
Let's say...
Hi all, even though not gas safe yet, one item of this game always puzzles me?
Does anybody use mineral wool, where the flue liner meets the register plate?
What does this wool achieve?
Does anyone know if there is a requirement for you to be able to access the stainless flue liner to appliance flue pipe joint which would be concealed in the chimney above the register plate ( small register plate on this one so not really capable of removing it to inspect. Can't find any thing...
Hello all,
Can anyone advise the reasons why I cannot have the Enamel Stove Pipe entering the chimeny and carring on all the way to the top?
From what I have read, and from looking at Building Regulations Part J, the stove pipe should only connect between the stove and the chimney linear...
Hi,
This will be for my own fire, I have checked the manufacturers instructions and ordered their flue adapter for the bottom which I will seal around with cement or rockwool.
The chimney stack has been taken down, the flue runs up to just below the roof so I am installing a liner through the...
